I’ve been in training this past week for my ITIL V3 Certification. Basically, this certification means I know how to run your business better than you can assist you in the strategy, design, transition, operation and continual improvement of your business and the services you provide. I haven’t sat the actual examination, but seeing my test score was 36 of 40, when the pass is 26 of 40, I’m feeling fairly confident i’m going to smash it.
And I do hope I get this certification, because right now in my position in Government, I have already identified, and related, a lot of things that could be fixed, if only the customer would get off their high horse and listen. Nothing is worse than working your ass off (being proactive) and having the person who pays you saying “why would you do that? It’s not fixing anything…”. Well, Mister I-earn-more-than-you-do-in-3-years-and-work-three-times-less, I do it because I don’t want the environment I work in to be a shitheap of old scrap and broken parts that are worth nothing. ITIL is very bureaucratic though (it came out of the UK Government because they realised how woeful they were), so you’d think a Government department would jump at the idea of doing as the motherland does, let alone just doing things right for the hell of it. We shall see…
In other news, I finally bit the large financial bullet and bought myself a new HTC Desire, and all I can say is it’s one sexy phone. The Android operating system is just sexy, slim and slick. The HTC Sense interface is pretty awesome too, although I noticed a little framerate stutter when trying to quickly skim through menus and screens, but not a massive problem. It DOES however eat massive amounts of battery. I’ll give it a week for my usage to drop to normal and for the battery to wear in, and we’ll see how we go.
Basically, life’s been pretty amazing recently. Stable job, no health problems, it’s all peachy. Ok, that’s life done.
