A bit late of a post, but went on a camping trip with MattyB end of last month, good times, good times. We took down both of our GPS units to see how they handled. A Tom Tom vs my Garmin Nuvi 255. Mine failed miserably when it came to new highways (it has a very old map on it). Anyway, one of the great features of the nuvi is it’s trip/track logging. It has kept a record of every trip I have had the logging activated for, and I pulled the last trip from it and threw it into Google. Here’s the result;
If only the car ACTUALLY reached over 300km/hr
The trip itself was great fun. Day 1 consisted of a breakdown not even 30 minutes out of Perth. Turns out that some galah had either 1) put water into a radiator of a high-revving jap motor and/or 2) hadn’t checked the coolant in a few decades. Boiled were the contents of the radiator, and the remaining sludge was a delicious creamy brown. A quick top-up and trip to the nearest servo scored some nice green fresh coolant, and no problems the rest of the trip.
Night 1 spent in Dunsborough Lakes in a spa cabin, where forts of quilts and bedsheets were promptly constructed and battle-lines drawn. A few alcoholic beverages and insane pizza consumed saw us retire. Next morning was spent travelling to wineries and the Margaret River Venison Farm. Bought a shirt that didn’t fit. Figures. Met up with Will, Pia, Felicity and the rest of the crew who were also enjoying a trip down to Dunsborough for some drinking and wining. That night saw us set up around a campfire somewhere near Blackwood River. Good times (although apparently I snore like a train).
Day 3 consisted of epic pies from Augusta Bakery, and a long trip back to Perth. Was great to get a nice hot cleansing shower and get a good nights sleep in my own bed. A trrrrip highly recommended and great fun (as all our DSS trips are
).
